This is a superb oil painting of one of the most famous scenes in Venice, dated around the mid 18th century, it shows the small boats on the canal with the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute in the distance over fading light and misty water. The Basilica's dome is visible from all over the city. It was constructed to celebrate the end of the plague in 1631. Santa María della Salute is one of the most important religious buildings in Venice.

This painting is on board and is in very good condition and framed in a period gilt frame which would benefit from some basic restoration.
