Portrait of a horse and a dog in a stable attributed to John E. Ferneley (1782 – 1860). John E. Ferneley was an English painter born in Leicestershire who specialized in the depiction of sport horses and hunting scenes. Although his interpretation of horses has been stylized, he is considered one of the great British equestrian artists, second only to George Stubbs.
